What are the common fiber interface types

Common fiber interface types are ST, SC, FC, and LC. The following explains how to distinguish them.

1.ST fiber interface

The ST head is the most common fiber optic interface seen on site. We can describe it as follows: a round fiber optic interface that can be stuck by half a turn. The advantage of this interface is that it is easy to fix, but the disadvantage is that it is easy to break, and it takes a little effort to connect.

2.SC fiber interface

The SC connector is directly pluggable and easy to use. The disadvantage is that there is no fixed end and it is easy to fall out.

3. FC fiber interface

The FC interface has been seen a lot, and this type of optical fiber connector is often used when the line protection device is connected to the communication cabinet. This interface has a nut that can be screwed onto the connector. The advantage is that it is reliable and dust-proof. The disadvantage is that it takes a long time to install.

4. LC fiber interface

The LC type connector is researched and developed by the famous Bell Institute and is made of a modular jack (RJ) latch mechanism that is easy to operate. The size of the pins and sleeves used are half of those used in ordinary SC, FC, etc. This can increase the density of fiber optic connectors in the fiber optic distribution frame.

These four optical fiber interfaces will have different combinations to form different types of optical fibers, such as ST-LC optical fiber, which means that one end is an ST port and the other is an LC port.
