What are the uses and differences between home, commercial and industrial switches?
Ethernet switches are generally divided into: commercial (Ethernet) switches, industrial (Ethernet) switches, and home (Ethernet) switches. So, what is the difference between home switches, commercial switches, and industrial switches?
Commercial switches are generally used in enterprise office networks and other occasions. They are generally rack-mounted and installed in enterprise computer rooms. They usually require high reliability, 24-hour uninterrupted long-term operation, large bandwidth, and many interfaces.
Industrial switches are generally used in industrial production occasions, and usually have various appearances and installation forms. According to different applications, there are requirements for dustproof, anti-vibration, and anti-electromagnetic interference. Of course, the reliability requirements are also high, and they also need to run 24 hours a day. Some automatic control applications require low forwarding delay, and some require redundant power supply, DC24V power supply and so on.
Home switches are mainly used for home use, and the requirements are not as stringent as commercial switches and industrial switches.
Industrial switches have better performance than home and commercial switches in terms of components, mechanical environment, climatic environment or electromagnetic environment, working voltage, power supply design, installation method, and heat dissipation method.
Compared with civil Ethernet switches, industrial Ethernet switches can meet the needs of industrial sites in terms of design and selection of components, product strength and applicability.
Industrial Ethernet switches include mechanical environment adaptability (such as vibration resistance, shock resistance), climatic environment adaptability (the operating temperature is required to be -40 to +85°C, at least -10 to +70°C, and it must be resistant to corrosion and dust. , waterproof), electromagnetic environment adaptability or electromagnetic compatibility EMC should comply with EN 50081-2, EN 50082-2, EN 50082-3, EN 50082-4, FCC, GB/T17626, IEC61000 and other standards.
Industrial Ethernet switch products should adapt to the harsh environment of the industrial control site. The use of network equipment in the industrial field must pass the surge test of IEC61000-4-5, GB/T17626.5 and other standards, and the power frequency magnetic field immunity test by IEC61000-4-8, GB/T17626.8 and other standards. IEC61000-4-9, GB/T17626.9 and other standards for pulse magnetic field immunity test, and voltage variation immunity test according to standard IEC61000-4-11, GB/T17626.11, etc.
