What is an optical transceiver?


The optical transceiver includes an optical transmitter and an optical receiver. The optical transmitter converts the received electrical signal into an optical signal that can be transmitted in the optical fiber, while the optical receiver is just the opposite. It converts the optical signal in the optical fiber into an electrical signal.

 

The commonly used optical transceivers mainly include data optical transceivers and video optical transceivers. They are both information transmission equipment and are widely used in many aspects of daily life.

Optical transceivers originally appeared in the form of data optical transceivers. In the data transmission system, optical transceivers mainly have two data transmission series: quasi-synchronous data transmission series and synchronous data transmission series. Although the quasi-synchronous data transmission system is equipped with a high-precision clock on each node and has uniform standard requirements for each clock signal, there will still be slight differences in the precision of each clock. At that time, the quasi-synchronous data transmission method could not meet the requirements of the times. Therefore, the synchronous data transmission series appeared, which made up for the difference of the former and gradually replaced it.
